    Schneider-Kreuznach sets up subsidiary in Shenzhen to intensify its sales activities in Asia / 23 10 2008

    Bad Kreuznach, 23 October 2008 - Schneider Optical Technologies (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. with headquarters in Shenzhen will open up the Chinese market for the Schneider Group.

    The Schneider Group, a leading manufacturer of high-precision lenses and servo hydraulics, is expanding its position in the Chinese market with a subsidiary in Shenzhen, a city with twelve million inhabitants in the south of China. Schneider Optical Technologies (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Schneider Asia Pacific Ltd. in Hong Kong. “China is on the way to becoming one of the most significant industrial locations in the world. By setting up a local presence we aim to capture a bigger chunk of this growth,” claims Dr. Josef Staub, CEO of the Schneider Group.

    The Shenzhen subsidiary will give the Schneider Group better access to local companies. “Proximity is particularly important in China. Demand for our high-quality products will soar over the next few years,” Dirk Muschert, Managing Director of Schneider Asia Pacific Ltd., predicts. Sales activities will initially focus on industrial lenses used by inspection machine makers for quality assurance equipment in manufacturing companies as well as high-performance servo-hydraulic products.

    Bad Kreuznach, Germany, March 5, 2008 – The Schneider Group, a worldwide market leader in high-quality lenses, has positioned itself to better address the rapidly growing Asian market with the foundation of a new subsidiary in Hong Kong.

    Locating the newly-formed Schneider Asia Pacific Ltd. in Hong Kong is a strategically sound decision, according to Schneider Group Managing Director Dr. Josef Staub. “Looking forward, the OEM and industrial business throughout Asia will clearly be driven from Hong Kong,” he explained. “China in particular promises very strong growth, and with this new subsidiary we have strengthened our international position as we continue to develop as a global force in the industry.”

    Schneider Asia Pacific Ltd. Managing Director Dirk Muschert described how the Hong Kong subsidiary will support and grow the sales and sourcing activities of the Schneider Group both locally and regionally, while enabling Schneider to form new partnerships and develop new business areas. “This brings us closer to our existing and future customers throughout the region, and will enable us to better meet their specific needs as the industries demand for high-quality German optical engineering grows.”

    In marking the founding of the new subsidiary, Schneider-Kreuznach welcomed the head of the business department of the Chinese Consulate in Frankfurt, Germany, Mr. Zhai Qian, to the companyís headquarters in Bad Kreuznach, Germany. According to Mr. Muschert, Schneider Asia Pacific Ltd. plans to found another company in mainland China to further develop the market on a local level.

    In addition to its headquarters in Germany, the Schneider Group now holds subsidiaries and majority investments in the United States, the U.K., South Korea and Hong Kong. The Schneider Groupís parent company, Jos. Schneider Optische Werke GmbH holds 100 percent of the shares of Schneider Asia Pacific Ltd.
